Welcome

We set up our adoption blog so you can get to know our family a little better. I started blogging back in 2007 and have kept up with it over the years. At the end of every year, we print off our blog for that year and give it to Daniel's mom for her Christmas present. She keeps all of her children's yearly journals in a notebook that we will get back one day to pass down to our kids. I try to keep it up to date as much as I can.

When we decided to start the adoption process, I decided to make an identical blog for birth mothers to read. Everything that I write about my family on our personal blog, I copy it over to my adoption blog. I understand that an adoption profile only gives limited information about us and we want you to have the opportunity to really get to know who we are and what we like to do as a family. Our adoption blog will show you who we were even before we adopted our boys. Feel free to read as much as you want or click on the links up above!

Houston Weekend

The last week in February I decided to go to Houston. Since I was going by myself, I decided it would be easier and just as cheap (with gas prices on the rise) to just fly. So I headed down on Friday morning and got to stay till Monday night. On Friday, I got to spend some time with my niece, Peyton, which was tons of fun because I don't see her too much. She is so cute and is starting to talk in full sentences now. She told my mom, "I really like your kitchen." And so my mom asked her why and she said "because it is so big!" I thought that was hilarious coming from a two year old. On Monday, I had a dentist appointment which I always dread going to but luckily.....I had no cavities.

I had quite the adventure at the IAH airport. Apparently, the airline I picked is almost unheard of at the airport. Well I get to the airport and go inside and look on the televisions to make sure my flight was on time. I was flying on Sun Country Airlines and well it wasn't listed on the TV. So I go up to the Delta counter and ask them if they know if Sun Country flies out of terminal A and they say they don't know but they think they fly out of D. So they tell me to go ask the United desk and so I go over there and ask this guy and he tells me that yes he knows the answer. He said some other guy had asked him earlier and it took him two hours to figure it out. He tells me that Sun County is associated with Frontier Airlines. So I make my way over there and ask them and they say yes I am at the right spot. So I ask the lady what gate I am leaving out of and she tells me A31. So I make my way through sercutity and the lady checking my ticket tells me that Sun Country doesn't fly out of Terminal A. So I was a little scared that she was correct but I kept going. Well I finally make my way to A31 and it says that this plane is going to Denver, Colorado. And to make matters worse...there is no one even at the counter of A31. So now I'm starting to freak out. I make my way over to the television monitors and no where on the TV does it says anything about Sun Country and only airline going to DFW is American Airlines and that flight leaves an hour after mine. So I go contact a security guy and this guy also tells me that Sun Country doesn't fly out of Terminal A. But then while I am talking with him, they make an announcement saying that Sun Country is leaving out of gate A30. So I make my way down there but they have nothing saying anything about DFW or Sun Country and no one is there. So now I am starting to panic.

I decided the only way to get any answers is to go back out to the front and talk to the lady that was working at Frontier. So I get down there and she says that now they are flying out of A30 instead of A31 and she takes my electronic ticket I had and gives me a new one. So I go look at the TV monitor now (because at this point, I don't trust anyone) and I find my flight number and gate and instead of it saying Sun Country or Frontier, it says Scandinavian Airlines. I mean come on....could this get anymore confusing. So I make my way back through security for the second time. Well since the lady gave me a new ticket...this one says I have to go through the extra security of getting padded down and then have a guy go through all of my luggage. Well I finally make my way to A30 and my plane has been delayed an hour due to bad weather. So needless to say, that was not the best night for me.

While I was in Houston, Daniel went over to spend some time with his sister, Emily. They were putting tile in their house and so he decided to go help them since he was going to be alone that weekend and he has done some tile work before.
