Welcome

We set up our adoption blog so you can get to know our family a little better. I started blogging back in 2007 and have kept up with it over the years. At the end of every year, we print off our blog for that year and give it to Daniel's mom for her Christmas present. She keeps all of her children's yearly journals in a notebook that we will get back one day to pass down to our kids. I try to keep it up to date as much as I can.

When we decided to start the adoption process, I decided to make an identical blog for birth mothers to read. Everything that I write about my family on our personal blog, I copy it over to my adoption blog. I understand that an adoption profile only gives limited information about us and we want you to have the opportunity to really get to know who we are and what we like to do as a family. Our adoption blog will show you who we were even before we adopted our boys. Feel free to read as much as you want or click on the links up above!

Long Overdue Post

Ok so I went to Oklahoma, Lubbock and Midland many many months ago but I figured I would go ahead and write about it.

Oklahoma -

In October, Emily, her daughter, Molly, and I went up to Oklahoma. Daniel was going camping with the boy scouts and so I figured I would go have fun too. Emily and I left on Thursday morning and got back on Sunday.
The main reason for the trip was so that Emily could get some help with Molly's Halloween costume by her mom since she is so good at sewing. So while Emily was working on Molly's Halloween costume, I got to play lots of Mario Kart with my father-in-law which was loads of fun.

On Friday, we decided to go to a pumpkin patch. They had a petting zoo, corn maze and lots of hay to play on. Bob, my father-in-law, actually forgot his money and so he had to embarrassingly borrow money from Emily and me to pay for the pumpkin patch. Afterwards we went to this place called "Pops." Basically they have every kind of soda you could possibly think of flown in from all over the United States. I ended up getting an Apple Beer because I used to get that soda all the time in Utah but they don't have it down here in Texas.

Then on Saturday, we went house shopping. My in-law plan on building their retirement home in day and are in need of finding a floor plan they like. So they took us around and showed us some possibilities. Those of you who know me well know how much I LOVE looking at houses. Anyways, these houses were beautiful and I could have spent all day looking at them.

Lubbock and Midland-
Daniel and I had plans to go up to Midland at the end of October to go to a baby blessing for his sister, Laura. Since we were heading all the way to Midland, we decided to go ahead and drive to Lubbock first to see Deanna and Mark. So on Friday morning, Daniel and I headed up there. Of course the first thing I had to do after getting there was to go see my old kitty, Mami. I had to give her up because I became allergic to cats and I just couldn't deal with it anymore. I gave her to Deanna because I knew I would still be able to see her and that she would take excellent care of her. Of course I found out later that her husband, Mark, didn't even know he was getting her until he came home and saw her in their house. But he has grown to really love her...I mean who couldn't love Mami.

Since it was Halloween, we had plans to go to a corn maze but decided to just relax at their place instead. So we went out to eat at Fuddruckers and then headed back to their house. Deanna and I played rummikub while the boys played Mario Kart on the wii. Even though we didn't go out and do anything, we still had a great time. I don't get to see Deanna very often and so I enjoy anytime I get to see her.

On Saturday, Daniel and I headed off to Midland. We mainly just hung out with the family and I got to play more rummikub. (if you can't tell, I love this game) Sunday came and we went to their church and got to see Kyra's baby blessing. Then we headed back to their house and had some food and just visited with everyone. We didn't get to stay very long on Sunday because we had a long drive home. So since we didn't get to enjoy getting Halloween candy, Daniel's parents gave us a ton for our road trip that they got at the store for dirt cheap.
