Deanna had to leave by around 3ish and so we went to go grab lunch at one of my new favorite restaurants which is a cutesy little bakery in town. It is sooooo good. It is definitely a woman's place because it's all pink and 98% women customers. After we said good-bye to Deanna, we headed over to Kirkland's. We picked up some pictures to put in our room and a couple of lamps. We got a set of three pictures for $22 because one of the pictures had a tiny scratch that you can barely see on the top of the frame. Awesome deal!
My parents came up to visit this past weekend. We had made several trips to Houston but they hadn't been to our house in a while. They got here on Friday afternoon and we went to go meet Daniel for lunch. After lunch, Daniel had to go back to work and so I dragged my parents around and did some shopping. I had to go to Lowes and pick up some stuff for the house. I also wanted to buy a ODL enclosed blinds for our back door. Basically they are blinds that are behind a glass so that you don't' have to worry about children messing with the cords or hurting themselves with them. I know we have no children right now but we will one day. And besides it looks better than what we had before (roman shades that didn't belong on a back door). I ended up getting them for quite a bit cheaper than they were selling them for because at Lowes they will price match them with another store and then take an additional 10% off.
On Friday night, we took my parents over to Which Wich to grab a sandwich. They had never been there and they always like to try something that they don't have in Houston.
The next day we decided to go over to the Sixth Floor Museum (the Old Book Depository that President Kennedy was shot from). If you haven't been, that is something interesting to do. Afterwards, we decided to go walk around an area of downtown. There really wasn't much to see or places to shop, it was mostly restaurants. We did get to see this amazing guy paint some pictures with spray paint. My parents and Daniel hadn't ever seen that done before and so they were very impressed. He painted some beautiful pictures. They weren't even expensive to buy one but the problem is that they wouldn't match anything else in our house. They are really colorful paintings with lots of neons and bright colors on a black background. I thought it was be really cool to have in a boy's room.
We headed over to the mall afterwards and my mom had fun shopping in Bath and Body Works. She is like a little kid in a candy store. She gets so excited over the different smells.
For dinner we headed over to a nearby steakhouse. It is an excellent steak restaurant. I think we've been there the last 3 times my parents have come up to visit. On the way home, we picked up some ice cream and then headed back home. We watched a couple episodes of The Big Bang Theory and they liked it so much that I let them borrow the first season on DVD.
