Welcome

We set up our adoption blog so you can get to know our family a little better. I started blogging back in 2007 and have kept up with it over the years. At the end of every year, we print off our blog for that year and give it to Daniel's mom for her Christmas present. She keeps all of her children's yearly journals in a notebook that we will get back one day to pass down to our kids. I try to keep it up to date as much as I can.

When we decided to start the adoption process, I decided to make an identical blog for birth mothers to read. Everything that I write about my family on our personal blog, I copy it over to my adoption blog. I understand that an adoption profile only gives limited information about us and we want you to have the opportunity to really get to know who we are and what we like to do as a family. Our adoption blog will show you who we were even before we adopted our boys. Feel free to read as much as you want or click on the links up above!

Manhattan Beach

Daniel and I just got back from our trip to California. We had a great time. Daniel had to go for work and I decided to tag along. We arrived in LA on Tuesday afternoon and went straight to our hotel. Then we decided to go check out the shopping that was close to our hotel. There was quite a bit within walking distance which was good for us since we didn't have a car. We grabbed a bite to eat at Subway and then of course we had to go to REI first and got a few good items on clearance. We headed back to our hotel and got sucked into watching a show called Locked Up Abroad: Bangladesh, on the National Geographic channel.

On Wednesday, Daniel had to start going to his classes. So I would just stay in the hotel room until lunch time and then we would go eat lunch together. After lunch, I would go shopping while Daniel went back to his classes. This was pretty much the same routine every day. Later that night we decided to go to California Pizza kitchen and then just relaxed the rest of the evening.

On Thursday after Daniel got out of his class, we decided to walk over to the beach that was less than 2 miles away. We kind of took a odd route and ended up going through a neighborhood which was ok since I loved looking at all the houses. They are so different than the houses in Texas. After we finally made it to the beach, Daniel and I walked around and took some pictures of the sunset. After we left the beach, we walked over to the Olive Garden and had dinner.

On Friday, we decided to eat at PF Changs for dinner. We had to wait for a while but the weather outside was beautiful. It stayed at 65 degrees the entire time we were in California.

On Saturday, REI was having a used gear sale. I went and grabbed Subway and brought it back to the room so Daniel could eat it as soon as possible. Then we headed over to REI. We got there two hours after the sale started so there wasn't too much left but what was left was reduced down in price again because they were just trying to get rid of stuff. Daniel picked up some gloves, a bike rack and a really nice day pack for a really good deal. Afterwards, Daniel went back to class and I stayed and shopped. Later that night, we decided to go eat at Houstons. We shared a rack of ribs and then got a dessert. Then we had to go back to the room so Daniel could study for his exam.

Look at the cute little tree house!

The next morning, Daniel went to go take his exam while I packed up everything. We headed to the airport and begin to wait in the really long lines. The security line took forever because they would let all the first class people in front of all of us normal people. We did spot of few celebrities though. While in the security line, Joseph Gordon Levitt who plays one of the main characters in 10 Things I Hate About You was in the same line as us...except he was first class.

After we got through security, we went and got something to eat first since we had an hour until we were to board. After eating, we went to go sit down and about 30 minutes later, we were told that they changed our gate. So we walked over to the other gate and they then told us that our flight would be delayed about 30 minutes. 30 minutes pass and we are told it is still delayed and will be another 30 minutes. Than after that time passed, we were told that they are still working on the plane and it will be another half hour. As Daniel and I are sitting down, we notice that they start moving our luggage out of the airplane. We realized that this is not a good sign and so Daniel headed over the the kiosk desk in case we have to get our flights change. While Daniel is over there, he notices a whole bunch of people running towards the desk. It just so happens that they canceled a flight to Seattle and gave us their plane. I'm not really sure on why they did that but I can't complain. So we finally get on the plane and head home.

When we got to the house, we walked in and it was like a sauna in there. It was set at 78 but it was close to 90 in the house. Daniel got online and did some research to try to figure out what was wrong. We were thinking about going outside and sleeping because it was cooler outside. Daniel decided to go check the outside air conditioner one more time and moved a wire and it turned on. Yippee!
