Welcome

We set up our adoption blog so you can get to know our family a little better. I started blogging back in 2007 and have kept up with it over the years. At the end of every year, we print off our blog for that year and give it to Daniel's mom for her Christmas present. She keeps all of her children's yearly journals in a notebook that we will get back one day to pass down to our kids. I try to keep it up to date as much as I can.

When we decided to start the adoption process, I decided to make an identical blog for birth mothers to read. Everything that I write about my family on our personal blog, I copy it over to my adoption blog. I understand that an adoption profile only gives limited information about us and we want you to have the opportunity to really get to know who we are and what we like to do as a family. Our adoption blog will show you who we were even before we adopted our boys. Feel free to read as much as you want or click on the links up above!

Easter Weekend

My parents decided to come visit us for Easter weekend. They arrived at our house on early Friday afternoon and then we headed up to Red, Hot & Blue. One of my favorite restaurants. Since Daniel was at work, he took off a little early and met us there. After we got done eating, I wasn't feeling very well and so we all headed back to our house.

While we were at home, my dad saw a travel magazine that a friend let me borrow and starting browsing through it. So we starting talking about some places we were thinking about going this year. We got talking and thought it would be really fun to go on a vacation together. We were thinking about going to either Chicago (but we've been there twice already), New York or an Alaskan cruise. Then we looked up how much it would cost to fly to Hawaii in December and it wasn't any more expensive than any other time of the year. So instead of spending Christmas in Texas, we will being spending Christmas in Kauai! Daniel and I have been to the Big Island before and we loved it. It is gorgeous and I've heard that Kauai is even more beautiful.

We've had a difficult time on trying to plan vacations with trying to adopt because you don't know what your future holds. We've had several friends take babies with them to Hawaii and had an amazing time. So we thought this would be a great vacation especially since my parents have never been off the mainland.

By the evening, I started feeling better and so we decided to go do a little shopping. First we headed over to Sprouts (Farmer's Market grocery store) and bought some food. Then we headed over to Barns and Noble to find a book on Kauai. When we went to the Big Island a few years ago, we had this booked called "Hawaii The Big Island Revealed" and it was the best tour guide book I've ever used. We wanted to find one on Kauai and luckily they had some.

The next morning we woke up, ate at A&W and then headed over to the movie theater to see Alice in Wonderland in 3D. It was definitely different but really good. After wards, we did a little shopping and then headed downtown. It was beautiful outside and so we really enjoyed just walking around. We love our downtown because it is really nice and so different than most big city down towns. Daniel suggested we eat at Reata's restaurant and it was so good. I think Daniel liked my meal better than his. This was the first time for me to try sea bass and I have to say it was quite delicious. After dinner we headed back home and played some games before heading to bed.

Today, Sunday, we woke up and just hung out at the house. Since conference was on, we didn't have church today. It's weird to not go to church on Easter day. After conference was over, my parents decided to head back to Houston. It's been a while since my parents have been up here and we had a great time with them!
