Daniel and I decided to drive around in downtown Detroit and it was nothing like downtown Fort Worth. It was really bad looking. Lots of closed down shops and parts of it were trashed especially around the downtown area. We even decided to drive down the street....8 Mile. Wow...that is all I have to say! It really is as bad as you hear. (Daniel edit: Laura bugged me the whole trip about wanting to drive one 8 Mile so I finally acquiesced on the last evening. Let's just say that Laura and I in our Prius Hybrid rental car did not fit in with the neighborhood and quickly hightailed it out of there. I have to say, that Prius rental was a pretty sweet deal all around. For a 2 day rental it only cost us $20. We drove 300 miles and used less than 4 gallons of gas so total cost was only $30.)
The spirit of Detroit statue. We decided to look up attractions in our GPS and this came up. So we decided to drive by it.
I'll post more tomorrow....I'm exhausted. We had to get up at 4:30am to catch our flight back home.
