Welcome

We set up our adoption blog so you can get to know our family a little better. I started blogging back in 2007 and have kept up with it over the years. At the end of every year, we print off our blog for that year and give it to Daniel's mom for her Christmas present. She keeps all of her children's yearly journals in a notebook that we will get back one day to pass down to our kids. I try to keep it up to date as much as I can.

When we decided to start the adoption process, I decided to make an identical blog for birth mothers to read. Everything that I write about my family on our personal blog, I copy it over to my adoption blog. I understand that an adoption profile only gives limited information about us and we want you to have the opportunity to really get to know who we are and what we like to do as a family. Our adoption blog will show you who we were even before we adopted our boys. Feel free to read as much as you want or click on the links up above!

Carter and Talon Updates

Carter had his two month check up today. Here are his percentiles...
Weight 13lbs 13 oz. - 95%
Height 24 in - 90%

He is still in 0-3 month clothes but there are some outfits that don't fit him anymore. It really just depends on the brand because there are still some clothes that are too big for him.

He is such a sweet boy! Especially now that he isn't in pain all the time. Carter loves to cuddle and sit on our lap. He has not had one Jack Jack Attack (from the Incredibles...this is what we called his screaming fits...see below...) since we've started him on his new formula and medicine. It's been over a week now and he is so much happier now. The only time he cries now is when he is hungry or tired. He has learned to put himself to sleep which has been awesome for us. We've gotten into a little schedule - eat, play (awake time), nap and repeat except for night time....there is no awake time if I can help it! He is sleeping longer now. He goes anywhere from 4-5 hours now at night which I love. So Daniel and I only have to get up twice with him during the night and then I put him right back down to sleep.

He is starting to smile more and more and loves to now grab onto my hair. And no I am not cutting it! It doesn't really bother me but if he starts doing it more then I'll just tie it back. He loves his new play gym and likes to look at himself in the mirror. He is still rolling over (he started rolling over at 3 weeks). When you put him on his stomach, he pretty much rolls right over onto his back. He can also now push up on his arms when on his stomach into a push up position. This kid is so strong. I have a feeling that he will be crawling ahead of schedule. All the doctors and friends are just amazed at his strength. He is also so good at holding up his head. He's been good at this for a while now.

Talon is doing well too. He has gotten to be more vocal when he wants something. He's going through a growth spurt right now and yesterday he was eating 3 oz. every 1 - 2 hours. Thank goodness he isn't on the expensive formula! Talon just recently started smiling. He doesn't do it very often yet but he is so cute when he does. He has the cutest little dimple.

Even though he is a good weight, he is very skinny. He still has to wear newborn onesies but is fitting into the 0-3 month sleepers now because of his height. Newborn diapers fit him perfectly but we've decided to just start using the size 1 since Carter is in size 1. In order for them to fit him, we have to fold them under and put them on really tight.

He LOVES his swing. Since he spits up, he is more comfortable in the swing which keeps him elevated. I think his spitting up is getting less and less. He now sleeps in the swing about half of the time. He is starting to get used to the bathtub but still isn't a huge fan of it. He is still a calm baby and absolutely loves to be held. He's so little that it's easy to just hold him with one arm and still do stuff around the house. We've also started putting him in his baby bjorn and he really likes that too. He just stares up at you and it's so sweet.

Some times it can be difficult having two babies (especially when they are both crying) but it's so worth it. I have to say that it is easier than I thought it would be (so far). They are so different from each other and that makes it fun. I have to say that I don't think I'll be leaving the house much because today when I took Carter to the doctor, it took me an hour and a half to feed them both, change their diaper, change their clothes, load them up in their car seat (clean up spit up on both after putting them in their car seat), and load them in the car. I think it will be a lot easier when they can go longer without eating every 3-4 hours during the day. I can't feed both at the same time when I'm out and about. Luckily I was all ready beforehand but didn't get a chance to really eat. I also think that I'm going to get quite toned with these two kiddos. I've already noticed that my stomach is way more toned now and you can see the muscles in my arms now. It's pretty sweet! Carrying around two car seats is definitely not easy especially when you have to figure out how to open the door and get through it. Today I managed to carry my diaper bag (and the thing is huge) and both car seats all on my left arm because I had to have a free arm to open the door.

And for those of you who have never seen Jack-Jack Attack, please enjoy. Carter's hair is like jack jack's and he also gets beet red and starts burning up and sweating when he cries. That is where we came up with "jack-jack attacks" from.
