Welcome

We set up our adoption blog so you can get to know our family a little better. I started blogging back in 2007 and have kept up with it over the years. At the end of every year, we print off our blog for that year and give it to Daniel's mom for her Christmas present. She keeps all of her children's yearly journals in a notebook that we will get back one day to pass down to our kids. I try to keep it up to date as much as I can.

When we decided to start the adoption process, I decided to make an identical blog for birth mothers to read. Everything that I write about my family on our personal blog, I copy it over to my adoption blog. I understand that an adoption profile only gives limited information about us and we want you to have the opportunity to really get to know who we are and what we like to do as a family. Our adoption blog will show you who we were even before we adopted our boys. Feel free to read as much as you want or click on the links up above!

Carter's Finalization

Last Friday we went to court to finalize Carter's adoption. There were a total of 15 families that were there to finalize their adoption and it was so awesome to see all the smiling faces. Each child that was finalized got a stuffed animal and Daniel picked out a cute dog for Carter. As families were finalizing their adoptions, the judge and or the attorney would ask a few questions. After the question were out of the way, the judge would explain that up until this point the love and care that we had given to our child was only through a moral obligation. With the finalization of the adoption, our obligation would also become a legal and familial obligation as well. The finalization permanently establishes the parent child relationship. As he finished wrapping up, he would let one of the smaller children or siblings (in our case, Molly) swing the gavel and everyone in the court room cheered. It was a rare and great occasion to be able to have everyone in a court room be smiling, happy, and excited for everyone else.

YAY! Carter is now legally ours!!!!!

Swearing us in.

Here are a few other pictures from recently.

The boys have so much fun playing together now. Some of the sweetest moments for Daniel and I are when the boys crawl out of sight and just start giggling at each other. Hearing them laugh with each other and play with each other can be very touching.

And they enjoy getting into trouble too!!! Luckily that was all paper that I was planning on shredding.

Carter loves giving hugs...and wet slobbery kisses. He is a very affectionate boy and like to follow me around the house wherever I go. He is also very protective of Daniel and myself. If he thinks we are hurt or in trouble, he starts to cry. For example, Daniel was working on a project and lets out a frustrated grunt because something wasn't working. Carter started crying and wouldn't stop until Daniel came over and comforted him and told him he was okay. He has done the same thing when we have been at other people's houses where there are dogs present. He likes the dog and has no problem with the dog playing and licking him. However, once the dog starts jumping on me, Carter starts crying. He will be a good bodyguard for me when he gets undoubtedly bigger than me!

We love Talon's dimple!

"Hi Mommy"

So sweet and happy;)

Carter and his new dog that he got when his adoption was finalized.

Talon is now a climber! Oh boy!!! He can now climb on top of this box, then to the speaker next to it and then onto the television stand. Isn't this such a cute picture? He just climbed up onto the box and sat like that. I was able to grab my camera and take lots of pictures before he decided to get down. No posing involved, he just naturally likes to clasp his hands together.
