Welcome

We set up our adoption blog so you can get to know our family a little better. I started blogging back in 2007 and have kept up with it over the years. At the end of every year, we print off our blog for that year and give it to Daniel's mom for her Christmas present. She keeps all of her children's yearly journals in a notebook that we will get back one day to pass down to our kids. I try to keep it up to date as much as I can.

When we decided to start the adoption process, I decided to make an identical blog for birth mothers to read. Everything that I write about my family on our personal blog, I copy it over to my adoption blog. I understand that an adoption profile only gives limited information about us and we want you to have the opportunity to really get to know who we are and what we like to do as a family. Our adoption blog will show you who we were even before we adopted our boys. Feel free to read as much as you want or click on the links up above!

Christmas Weekend

We had a great Christmas holiday. My family came into town on Friday afternoon and we went to my favorite restaurant, BJ's, for dinner. On Saturday we drove over to Emily's house (Daniel's sister) to decorate cookies and open presents (from their cousin Molly).

Our cookies we made.

Carter and Talon playing with their toys (pots and pans) that Molly gave them.

After we left there, we headed over to Red Robin to grab some dinner. Carter fell asleep on the way there and so Daniel decided to stay in the car with the boys until our dinner came. About 20 minutes later I got a text from Daniel saying that the car battery was dead. He had actually left the lights on while sitting in the car with it off. Unfortunately, we didn't have any jumper cables in my car and neither did my parents. Daniel asked a guy that walked by our car and he so happened to be on the phone with his brother who was coming up to the restaurant to meet him and so he brought his jumper cables for us. We all went inside and ate our dinner and then met up with the guy who was going to help us out. It took a while to start but it finally did. We then decided that we needed to go ahead and replace our battery so we headed over to Wal-mart. We were lucky they were open because it was 5:50 in the evening on Christmas Eve. They got us right in and had it replaced in less than 15 minutes. We also picked up some jumper cables for my car! We had plans that evening of going over to the Gaylord Texan (it is a convention center that goes all out in decorating for Christmas) because it is our family tradition to go every December for Christmas. Since Talon still hadn't taken a nap, we decided it was best for Daniel to go home with the boys and I went with my family to the Gaylord. I'm kinda sad that Daniel, Carter and Talon didn't get to go so maybe we will go this weekend if we have time (they keep up all the decorations until January). Hopefully next year we won't be so busy and we'll be able to make it before Christmas!

Here is a picture of me by the giant gingerbread house! (pictures aren't so great because they were taken with an iphone) My camera is in the shop getting repaired and Daniel had his camera with him.

My family (minus my brother, David) Since Daniel wasn't there,
so Vixen decided to take his place (;

So pretty!

Carter and Talon's presents (before they woke up)

Trying to figure out what all this things are.

Carter playing with his new drum set.

We made a turkey this year and it turned out great. This was Daniel's first time to make a turkey too! While he was preparing the food, I was painting the boy's new room. I LOVE the color....it's a very grayish blue color and it turned out exactly like I wanted. We already have their beds and comforters but we still need to buy wall decorations and mattresses. We plan on getting it all set up and then we can move them into their new room whenever we feel they are ready. As of right now, it makes a great play room!

New comforters

After my parents left on Monday, Daniel's parents came to visit. Our boys love to play with pots & pans, play food and utensils and so they bought them this cute kitchen. They LOVE it!

Our happy boys (:
