Welcome

We set up our adoption blog so you can get to know our family a little better. I started blogging back in 2007 and have kept up with it over the years. At the end of every year, we print off our blog for that year and give it to Daniel's mom for her Christmas present. She keeps all of her children's yearly journals in a notebook that we will get back one day to pass down to our kids. I try to keep it up to date as much as I can.

When we decided to start the adoption process, I decided to make an identical blog for birth mothers to read. Everything that I write about my family on our personal blog, I copy it over to my adoption blog. I understand that an adoption profile only gives limited information about us and we want you to have the opportunity to really get to know who we are and what we like to do as a family. Our adoption blog will show you who we were even before we adopted our boys. Feel free to read as much as you want or click on the links up above!

The Week of Recalls

I have spent the majority of my time this morning on the phone setting up appointments. On Saturday, I received a notice in the mail stating my my Mazda Tribute has a recall. So I gave the dealership a call and set up an appointment for this Saturday. That way we can take two cars and I'm not stuck at the dealership with my boys who would be bored out of their minds. The mall is right across the highway of the dealership so it looks like we will be spending the afternoon shopping. That is much more up my alley! They don't even have the correct parts to fix it so I'll have to go back once they get it in. This first trip is to make my car safe for driving. Although I'm not too worried about it since I've been driving this car for 8 years and have never had a problem!

Then my mom called me this morning and told me to check my dishwasher model and serial number to see if it had been recalled. Sure enough, my dishwasher has been recalled too! Last May we had a GE repair guy come out to fix our refrigerator and he was so nice. I sat and visited with him the whole time he was working on our fridge and since he had to come back a 2nd time, I got to visit with him again. I told him that if we ever needed anything else repaired, I would make sure that I requested him. So I could have just set up our repair online but I wanted to call so I could get the same guy. I was probably on hold for a good half hour and when I finally got connected, they told me that a name isn't good enough. I have to also have his id number which I probably had a year ago. So I went ahead and set up an appointment with someone other guy and figured I would sent a text to my repair guy to see if he was available. Sure enough, he called me up and said he wanted to come fix it for me and he is going to come two days sooner than what I was able to get from the phone. Next time, I'll just call my repair guy first! Also, since there are so many recalls right now, the guy they had set me up with doesn't even work for GE. So it's good to have connections. I was told not to use my dishwasher till it was repaired (really? They want me to go an entire 9 days with no dishwasher?!?!) but my repair guy told me I could use it. He said less than 5% have this problem and of those with the problems, even less have even caught on fire. I never use the dishwasher while I'm out of the house anyway so I was relieved about that (:
