Welcome

We set up our adoption blog so you can get to know our family a little better. I started blogging back in 2007 and have kept up with it over the years. At the end of every year, we print off our blog for that year and give it to Daniel's mom for her Christmas present. She keeps all of her children's yearly journals in a notebook that we will get back one day to pass down to our kids. I try to keep it up to date as much as I can.

When we decided to start the adoption process, I decided to make an identical blog for birth mothers to read. Everything that I write about my family on our personal blog, I copy it over to my adoption blog. I understand that an adoption profile only gives limited information about us and we want you to have the opportunity to really get to know who we are and what we like to do as a family. Our adoption blog will show you who we were even before we adopted our boys. Feel free to read as much as you want or click on the links up above!

Here you go Laura

5 Tag (Make sure to see Laura's update as well...)

10 Years Ago: I was living in Coppell and was a freshman in high school. I had just moved to Coppell from Midland and didn't have too many friends (like usual). I was in band and Emily was a senior. It was the only time in my life that I can remember that I had any interaction at school with another sibling. She was so nice as well. She always invited me to do things with her friends and at least made sure that they would say hello to me. I never really took her up on it because I didn't want to be an annoying tag-a-long but it meant a lot. Thanks Em for watching out for me and making sure I didn't feel like a complete fly on the wall. haha.

5 Years Ago: I was living in Matsumoto, Japan serving with Elder Hutchison. I had been out on a mission for a total of a little less than 8 months and Japan for about 5. The cherry blossoms were out in bloom and it was beginning to rain frequently. On my 20th birthday (April 21st) I received the news that Elder Hutchison was being transferred and I was becoming a senior companion. Actually, I had to get out my missionary journal to see what was going on and had a fun time reminiscing. There were a lot more good times than what I remember. I'm sure glad I at least kept some semblance of a journal while I was over there because the only memories that I can readily pull up now are of hour after hour of knocking on doors only to have people tell us no over the intercom. The journal entry from 5 years ago, was one of the better memories so I think I'll just write the whole thing at the end of this. I still remember that night and those feelings.

5 Months Ago: Laura pretty much covered this one except for the fact that I got a promotion right about 5 months ago.

5 Things on my To Do list today (I'm doing 4/21 as 4/20 is 10 minutes from ending):
1. Research life expectancies for people with various medical problems
2. Try to avoid too many embarrassing moments of people singing me Happy Birthday
3. Prepare for meeting in Dallas on Tuesday.
4. Look up where to get a new scout uniform
5. Write a will (cause I'm getting so stinking old...)

5 Snacks I enjoy:
1. Fruit of any kind
2. Skittles
3. Cereal
4. Ice cream
5. smoothies

5 Things I would do if I was suddenly a billionaire:
1. Have a long discussion with an accountant/financial planner
2. Save enough to pay for college for all of my (future) children, nephews, and nieces. Buy my mom a Porche and give my dad a million dollars (cause I promised them I would do that when I become rich).
3. Research how to start a foundation and which causes to support. Donate approximately $400 million to it cause I'm guessing I'd only have $500 million after various expenses/taxes.
4. Buy lots of real estate in various countries.
5. Buy a sailboat/yacht and sail the seven seas. I would also make sure to buy a private island (with a fresh water source) to use as home base.

5 of my Bad Habits:
1. Not expressing my opinions
2. being introverted
3. Letting myself be lazy
4. staying up too late
5. being negative

5 Places I have Lived:
1. Coppell, TX
2. Kingwood, TX
3. Japan
4. College Station/Bryan, TX
5. Fort Worth, TX

5 Things People don't know about me:
1. I still sometimes wish I had gone to work for NASA.
2. I have a good eye when it come to picking out clothes for Laura or home decorating.
3. I'd love to buy a sailboat and sail around the world (I guess you know this from above..oh well)
4. I love to annoy Laura especially because she makes it so easy.
5. I went through several season of baseball as a kid before telling my parents that I really hated it. (I still hate baseball to this day). I just stuck to soccer and swimming.

5 People I Tag:
1. I'm not doing this...since Laura just did it.

Journal entry from 4/17/03
" I haven't written for several weeks but today was a day that I felt like writing about. The weather in the evening was perfect! I felt homesick. Not for Texas or family...I was just homesick for my original home. The weather was the perfect temperature. There was a slight breeze across my face. The moonlight was great because of a full moon. The outline of the mountains was visible in the distance. The stars were bright. The sky was clear and the light was reflecting off of the river as it made the beautiful sound of water running. The cherry blossoms are in bloom and give an arousing aroma to the area. I could go on an on! It was perfect. That is what Heaven HAS to be like."
