Welcome

We set up our adoption blog so you can get to know our family a little better. I started blogging back in 2007 and have kept up with it over the years. At the end of every year, we print off our blog for that year and give it to Daniel's mom for her Christmas present. She keeps all of her children's yearly journals in a notebook that we will get back one day to pass down to our kids. I try to keep it up to date as much as I can.

When we decided to start the adoption process, I decided to make an identical blog for birth mothers to read. Everything that I write about my family on our personal blog, I copy it over to my adoption blog. I understand that an adoption profile only gives limited information about us and we want you to have the opportunity to really get to know who we are and what we like to do as a family. Our adoption blog will show you who we were even before we adopted our boys. Feel free to read as much as you want or click on the links up above!

Houston Trip

Well about a month ago, Daniel and I headed down to Houston because my brother was getting ready to have their second child. We drove down on a Thursday night and woke up really early to go to the hospital the next morning. Baby Parker Allen was born close to 9 o'clock. Unfortunately, since he was born 3 weeks early, he had to stay for a week in the NICU due to pneumonia. But he is doing great now! While my brother, Nena and Parker were in the hospital, my mom and I got to baby-sit my niece, Peyton. She is sooooo cute.
Daniel and I were suppose to watch Peyton at my brother's house but unfortunately, Daniel was feeling really sick. We didn't know it at the time, but he had food poisoning. He felt nauseous but we promised David and Nena that we would take Peyton and stay at their house so Peyton wouldn't be so confused. Soon after we left my parent's neighborhood, Daniel started feeling really sick and dry heaving. We decided to head back to my parents house. I started driving faster in order to get back home but I guess the U-turn and quick starts and stops at the stop signs caused him to start throwing up for real. Luckily, he was smart enough to bring a trash bag with him and I think he filled up half of the bag. It was quite gross and the smell of it was causing me to gag and so I drove even faster. It was a bad cycle because the faster I drove, the more he threw up and the faster I drove, and on and on. Luckily we were only a minute away from my parents' house. Needless to say, we ended up staying with my parents. My mom, dad and I had to go shopping to buy Peyton some clothes later than night and then we went to go get ice cream while Daniel rested at the house. He had a rough night but by the next day, he was doing great and so he headed back home by himself since he had work the next day.

My mom and I kept busy with Peyton until we took her back to the hospital on Monday. While I was down there, I got to baby-sit the two kids that I used to nanny for. One of my really good friends, Sophia took over my job when I left three years ago and so we were helping her out while she was taking some classes. I still can't believe how much they have both grown up. Austin is now way taller than me and Kelly is catching up to me too. While watching them, we took Kelly to tumbling classes and I was so impressed with how good she is. When I used to watch her, she was in gymnastics but her dad ended up pulling her out b/c she cried all the time. Also the gym that she goes to is the one that I went to when I was about 10 years old. But now it is about 10 times the size.

It was also good to see my friend, Sophia while down in Houston. It had been over a year since I had seen her but it's good to know that even though we have been apart for so long, nothing has changed between us. Sophia moved in across the street from me when I was in junior high and I know she is someone that I will always be friends with. While with Sophia, she and I went to look at rings. Even though I am married and LOVE my ring...it is still fun to ring shop with girls. She showed me the ring that she really likes and I have to agree that it is really beautiful and something I would have picked out.

Also in Houston, I got to see my friend Ashley. We've known each other since the first grade but became best friends in fourth grade. We got to go out to eat at my favorite restaurant BJs and catch up with each other.

For those of you that don't know, my parents are moving. They aren't moving but a few miles form their current house but the neighborhood is beautiful. It is going to have multiple lakes, a place to rent boats, a river walk, marina, amphitheater, waterfront shopping and tons more. Anyways, I'm really excited because after it's built and Daniel and I go visit, it will give us something fun to do within walking distance. Also, I'm excited to be able to walk through all the big expensive houses that they are going to be building throughout the next few years.
I got to stay down in Houston for a little over a week and very much enjoyed it. I ended up flying home and was glad to fly Continental airlines!
