Welcome

We set up our adoption blog so you can get to know our family a little better. I started blogging back in 2007 and have kept up with it over the years. At the end of every year, we print off our blog for that year and give it to Daniel's mom for her Christmas present. She keeps all of her children's yearly journals in a notebook that we will get back one day to pass down to our kids. I try to keep it up to date as much as I can.

When we decided to start the adoption process, I decided to make an identical blog for birth mothers to read. Everything that I write about my family on our personal blog, I copy it over to my adoption blog. I understand that an adoption profile only gives limited information about us and we want you to have the opportunity to really get to know who we are and what we like to do as a family. Our adoption blog will show you who we were even before we adopted our boys. Feel free to read as much as you want or click on the links up above!

Welcome to our Hotel!

These past few months, Daniel and I have had a total of 15 guests stay at our house. We absolutely love having guests and the more the merrier.
Our first guest was my lovely friend, Deanna. She had gone down to Houston to have knee surgery and her parents were bringing her back to Lubbock. So while her parents were hanging out with family, Deanna came and stayed the night with us. We always have fun with her. Since she couldn't really walk, we just hung out at the house and talked. For those of you who don't know...Deanna and I were basically roommates in college at Texas A&M. We lived next door to each other and her apartment was mine and mine was hers. For the first semester, we both lived in a two bedroom apartment by ourselves. I'm sure that other people probably thought that we were really spoiled. Of course we became inseparable and best friends. One day we both hope to live next door to each other again!

A few weeks later, Daniel had some family visit. His cousin, Melissa and her husband and two kids were moving from Utah to Texas and decided it was best to stop by our house for a day or so to spend the night and rest up. We had a total of 7 people spending the night. Besides Melissa's family, we had her mom and her two sisters come too. Since they were here for the fourth of July, we decided to have a little barbecue. So Daniel's parents and his sister, Emily, also came to hang out. We had a ton of fun just hanging out talking and then we spent hours playing a game called Werewolves of Miller's Hollow. The next morning they left and so Daniel and I headed over to Emily and Jeremy's house. We decided to go to Ikea to get some more of our plates. Luckily they were on sale for half off but unluckily they were out of the green plates. We did manage to get some more bowls though. Also Daniel's parents wanted to get a couple chairs like one I have but they were out of the black leather cushion. Of course we both got a few other items. So both of us left Ikea with disappointed that we weren't able to get what we had come for. After Daniel's parents left, we just decided to spend the night at Emily's house since it was super late and we still had an hour drive home.

Our next guest was my brother, John. We got a lot done around the house while he was here. He helped Daniel's put in lights in the three guest bedroom closets. He also helped us put in another light in the guest bathroom. It really needed another because it was really dark in the shower area. And then he surprised us with a fluorescent light in the garage which Daniel's loves. The next week, since Daniel was in a fixing up the house mood, we put hardware on all the cabinets in the house and he even built us a set of shelves that I'm using as a shoe rack in our closet.

Last weekend, we got to have Daniel's sister, Laura, and her family come visit. Laura and Jared have 4 kids and 1 on the way with the oldest turning 7 soon. We had a full house but had a ton of fun. They arrived really late on Wednesday night and stayed till Saturday late afternoon. Daniel took off of work on Friday and so we were able to go to the zoo and then ride the train with them. The weather at the zoo wasn't near as nice as it was the last time I was there but at least it was cooler than it has been this past week. After the zoo, we went and rode a little train. It was about 40 minutes long and it was nice to just relax for a while. The next day we went to a go-cart type place with them. My niece, Tara, really wanted to ride in the car with me and we had a ton of fun. I thought she would be a little scared but she kept yelling "drive faster, drive faster...this is so much fun!" The funny thing was that you have to be 5' to drive the car and I am exactly 5'. I had to really extend my leg in order to push down on the gas and so the next day my calf muscle was killing me from having it flexed for that long. We had a blast with their family and would love to have them visit again any day.
We have had a lot of guest stay at our house recently. Daniel and I love having people come over.
