Welcome

We set up our adoption blog so you can get to know our family a little better. I started blogging back in 2007 and have kept up with it over the years. At the end of every year, we print off our blog for that year and give it to Daniel's mom for her Christmas present. She keeps all of her children's yearly journals in a notebook that we will get back one day to pass down to our kids. I try to keep it up to date as much as I can.

When we decided to start the adoption process, I decided to make an identical blog for birth mothers to read. Everything that I write about my family on our personal blog, I copy it over to my adoption blog. I understand that an adoption profile only gives limited information about us and we want you to have the opportunity to really get to know who we are and what we like to do as a family. Our adoption blog will show you who we were even before we adopted our boys. Feel free to read as much as you want or click on the links up above!

Farewell Iceland, but Hello Caribbean

Another reason our Iceland trip died was that we got a smoking deal on a 7 day cruise at the beginning of March to the Eastern Caribbean on the world's largest passenger ship, Liberty of the Seas - 160,000 tons, 15 decks, a quarter-mile in length, 6000+ occupants if you include the crew. Well, actually it shares the title with its two sister ships, Freedom of the Seas and Independence of the Seas.
Tickets have been bought, airfare has been purchased! I'm still a little sad about not going to Iceland, but Laura loves cruises, so she is happy. We ended up getting the whole kit and caboodle for less than just the flight to Iceland would have cost, so I can't complain either. We leave from Miami and we'll be going to Sint Maarten, Netherlands Antilles; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and Labadee, Haiti, a private resort in Haiti owned by Royal Caribbean. Best of all, we'll be going with another kidless couple around our same age.

The ship has so many things to do including rock climbing walls, ice skating rink, onboard surfing, boxing ring, sports deck, theaters with Broadway and Vegas style shows, lots of restaurants, fitness center, casino, pools, whirlpools, shopping, and plenty of deck chairs to sit on and read a book. Best part of it all, shows, activities, food, etc. are free (on the ship, not at the ports).

This is called the FlowRider. It simulates surfing on an 30 mph wave.

And then there's the rockwall. (some photos may be of Freedom of the Seas, but it's practically identical to Liberty)

Don't forget the ice skating rink and the Theater...

And the main dining room and "Royal Promenade"entertainment boulevard (longer than a football field)

And that is just the cruise ship. I can't wait to go exploring around old San Juan, have one foot in Holland and one in France at St. Marten, and lounge on the beach and do some snorkeling at Labadee.

Here is a picture of San Juan!
