Welcome

We set up our adoption blog so you can get to know our family a little better. I started blogging back in 2007 and have kept up with it over the years. At the end of every year, we print off our blog for that year and give it to Daniel's mom for her Christmas present. She keeps all of her children's yearly journals in a notebook that we will get back one day to pass down to our kids. I try to keep it up to date as much as I can.

When we decided to start the adoption process, I decided to make an identical blog for birth mothers to read. Everything that I write about my family on our personal blog, I copy it over to my adoption blog. I understand that an adoption profile only gives limited information about us and we want you to have the opportunity to really get to know who we are and what we like to do as a family. Our adoption blog will show you who we were even before we adopted our boys. Feel free to read as much as you want or click on the links up above!

One quick story

I forgot to tell one quick story. One night on our backpacking trip, I was somewhat delusional from altitude sickness. One of the best ways to get over altitude sickness is to keep hydrated. This a nice quick fix with one big drawback. I had to get up in the middle of the night to take care of some business. Well, my brain wasn't working correctly and I was a little disoriented. I walked out of the tent and headed the suggested 100 feet away from camp to take care of things. There were enough stars out that I didn't have my flashlight on at the time. It was probably in the upper 30s or lower 40s at the time. Things didn't seem very familiar to me as I was walking, but I thought nothing of it. I was just watching where my feet were going and not looking out in front of me. I must have just gone off on a slightly different angle than normal. Well, all of the sudden, I walk into a puddle of water. Aside from being perturbed that I happened to find the only puddle of water in the entire place (as it hadn't rained the previous day), I didn't want to get my boots wet. So I went ahead and took a step sideways and landed in even more water. I finally turned my flashlight on and looked around. It took me a few seconds of complete confusion to realized that I had walked into the lake. I wasn't just a few inches in the lake either. I happened to step on all the right rocks and was a good 3-4 feet out once I realized where I was. Luckily, it was still shallow and I didn't get the inside of my boots wet.

So I proceeded to turn around, walk back to the tent, and continue in the right direction to take care of my business. Needless to say, I felt like quite the dork.
