Welcome

We set up our adoption blog so you can get to know our family a little better. I started blogging back in 2007 and have kept up with it over the years. At the end of every year, we print off our blog for that year and give it to Daniel's mom for her Christmas present. She keeps all of her children's yearly journals in a notebook that we will get back one day to pass down to our kids. I try to keep it up to date as much as I can.

When we decided to start the adoption process, I decided to make an identical blog for birth mothers to read. Everything that I write about my family on our personal blog, I copy it over to my adoption blog. I understand that an adoption profile only gives limited information about us and we want you to have the opportunity to really get to know who we are and what we like to do as a family. Our adoption blog will show you who we were even before we adopted our boys. Feel free to read as much as you want or click on the links up above!

Family Room Update

When we built our house, we had an accent wall painted in the kitchen and family room. We really liked the color and so we decided to go ahead and paint the rest of the family room, kitchen and part of the study in the same color. I went and bought some paint and then had to buy some more paint because I ran out. The only problem is that every gallon of paint ended up being slightly different from each other. (this is what you get when you buy builder's grade paint) So every time I have to touch up a spot on the wall, you can see where I touched it up at. About a month ago, Daniel ended up getting some wax on the wall. He tried to wash it off with water but it made it worse. Then he touched it up and it still looked bad.

Every room that I have painted in my house is eggshell except for this one color which so happens to be in the main living areas and the largest area. I just hate flat paint and will never buy it again. We didn't know better when we decided to paint and that is all the builders use.

The solution....repaint the entire room and hallway (except for two accent walls in our study) but in an eggshell this time! I really liked the color in my entryway and so I used that color. My best friend, Deanna, came over to help me paint for two days. We got quite a bit done thanks to her help. I didn't finish it in those two days but I did decide to take a good week break from painting. Then the next week, I started at around 2pm and finished at around 1am. I didn't want to stop and I just wanted to get it all done so that I wouldn't' have to get out all of my paint supplies again.

I love it and it really brightens up the room. If you don't remember, the color before was just a shade or two darker than this one.

5 gallons of paint later and here are the results....

We still need to put something on the wall of the television because it is a little too bare but I haven't decided what to do just yet.
