Welcome

We set up our adoption blog so you can get to know our family a little better. I started blogging back in 2007 and have kept up with it over the years. At the end of every year, we print off our blog for that year and give it to Daniel's mom for her Christmas present. She keeps all of her children's yearly journals in a notebook that we will get back one day to pass down to our kids. I try to keep it up to date as much as I can.

When we decided to start the adoption process, I decided to make an identical blog for birth mothers to read. Everything that I write about my family on our personal blog, I copy it over to my adoption blog. I understand that an adoption profile only gives limited information about us and we want you to have the opportunity to really get to know who we are and what we like to do as a family. Our adoption blog will show you who we were even before we adopted our boys. Feel free to read as much as you want or click on the links up above!

Our Boys

We are still here in Michigan but really hoping we will be able to go home very soon. The paperwork is still in Michigan but will be overnighted tonight to Texas. Once Texas looks over everything then they will call Michigan and we will get the go ahead to head home.

Their personalities are already showing and they are completely different from each other. Carter is very impatient, strong, demanding and determined. Carter loves to be swaddled and is real active. The only way to stop him is to put him in his straight jacket. Carter still scratches up his face all the time but Talon is very gentle and has yet to make one mark on his. Talon is very easy going and has the cutest little cry. He only cries when he has a dirty diaper or is naked. Occasionally he will cry because he just wants to be held and very rarely cries when he is hungry while Carter screams bloody murder if you don't get him his bottle within 30 seconds of starting to cry. Carter is the LOUDEST sleeper....it is hilarious and Talon yips in his sleep like a little puppy dog.

Carter is so strong that he can already flip himself over during tummy time. He was three weeks old when he first did this and he does it almost every time we put him on his tummy. When we do tummy time with Talon, he just falls asleep.

Carter has bad gas pains and we have had lots of sleepless nights with him screaming. We were putting Mylicone drops in his bottle but it wasn't helping at all. So we decided to try Gripe Water and so far that has helped some. He still has his moments of bad gas but at least he isn't screaming 20 out of 24 hours of the day. Now it's only a few hours out of the day. Daniel and I are still considering changing his formula to the same as Talons but we haven't decided yet. We are giving the gripe water a try for a week or two first to see if that helps since Talon's formula is over twice as expensive. Right now Carter is on the Costco's formula and Talon is on Enfamil Gentlease for fussiness and gas. Talon has to be on this formula because he spits up a lot and this formula helps with that.

So Daniel and I have discovered that we are sticking to pampers. We have tried lots of other brands but have had way too many messes to clean up while the pampers have yet to let us down. I don't even want to know how much money we are going to be spending on diapers and formula this year! But it is all worth it!!!

Last Tuesday, we took Talon in to see his pediatrician. His jaundice is completely gone and he has put on some weight. We have to keep an eye on his weight since he spits up so much. He was 7lbs 4oz when we left the hospital on Sunday and he was 7lbs 9oz at the doctor's visit two days later. We also decided to go ahead and weigh Carter while we were there also. He now weighs 11lbs 9oz but that is with a clean diaper on and a onesie. He was 9lbs 1oz on June 30th. He is getting so big. See picture below!

Talon umbilical cord fell off after just 5 days! Carter's umbilical cord took 16 days to fall off and we thought that was fast. Here are some pictures...enjoy!

Talon and Carter together. Talon makes the funniest faces. Carter is 3 weeks and 1 day older than Talon.

Carter is getting so chubby

Just chillin

Talon and his little self. This is him in a 0-3 month onesie and his legs look so tiny.
