Welcome

We set up our adoption blog so you can get to know our family a little better. I started blogging back in 2007 and have kept up with it over the years. At the end of every year, we print off our blog for that year and give it to Daniel's mom for her Christmas present. She keeps all of her children's yearly journals in a notebook that we will get back one day to pass down to our kids. I try to keep it up to date as much as I can.

When we decided to start the adoption process, I decided to make an identical blog for birth mothers to read. Everything that I write about my family on our personal blog, I copy it over to my adoption blog. I understand that an adoption profile only gives limited information about us and we want you to have the opportunity to really get to know who we are and what we like to do as a family. Our adoption blog will show you who we were even before we adopted our boys. Feel free to read as much as you want or click on the links up above!

They say bad things come in 3's

They say bad things come in 3's. Lets hope Daniel's flight getting canceled counted as one of the three so that nothing else bad happens!!!

So far it has been a pretty good week but I have had a few things happen in the last couple days that have just sucked!

First thing being my eye.

I keep having an allergic reaction to something. This has now happened about 6 times in the past year. It itches really bad and gets really swollen and sore. I couldn't take any benadryl because it knocks me out and well that wouldn't be a good thing when I have two little boys to take care of. After the itching stops, it really isn't too bad. I just look ridiculous!

The next day I was doing a load of laundry. After I moved the clothes into the dryer, I went to start it and nothing happened. I could hear it trying to work. I opened the door to see if the light would come on and could smell something burning. So I took out all the clothes and unplugged the dryer. I honestly thought that the washer would be the one to go out first. The light cycle doesn't work on it and the agitator doesn't work the best on large loads. This set is close to 13 years old. It was my Grandmas and then my parents before I got them in 2004. It definitely won't be worth getting fixed. Now I have to go another 3 days before we can go purchase a new set and who knows when they will deliver them. It has been so hot here that I could probably set all the clothes outside and they would be done drying in an hour!

Other than my eye and the dryer, this week has been really fun. We've been busy everyday and so this week hasn't been too bad without Daniel (but of course I still miss him like crazy). We went over to my friend's house today and had a play date with her daughter. She is only 3 weeks older than Carter and 6 weeks older than Talon. I can't really say the boys played with her much (Talon kept stealing her apple and Carter spent his time exploring her house) but I had a great time visiting with my friend.

Tomorrow, my sister-in-law (Emily) is coming over with her daughter and then my brother is coming up tomorrow evening. My brother is good at building or fixing anything and so he is going to help me put up a chair rail in the nursery.

Only three more days until Daniel gets home!

Update: My baby monitor broke on Saturday but I am getting a new one in the mail because it has a two year warranty. So now I just have to survive without a monitor for a week or two but at least my boys always sleep through the night.
