Welcome

We set up our adoption blog so you can get to know our family a little better. I started blogging back in 2007 and have kept up with it over the years. At the end of every year, we print off our blog for that year and give it to Daniel's mom for her Christmas present. She keeps all of her children's yearly journals in a notebook that we will get back one day to pass down to our kids. I try to keep it up to date as much as I can.

When we decided to start the adoption process, I decided to make an identical blog for birth mothers to read. Everything that I write about my family on our personal blog, I copy it over to my adoption blog. I understand that an adoption profile only gives limited information about us and we want you to have the opportunity to really get to know who we are and what we like to do as a family. Our adoption blog will show you who we were even before we adopted our boys. Feel free to read as much as you want or click on the links up above!

Crazy Busy but a good CRAZY!

Life has been super busy lately. I'm sure glad my boys are great nap takers! I am able to get lots done while they nap because they usually take a good 2-3 hour nap during the day and then another 1-2 hour nap in the evening. They also always sleep 12 hours at night(:

On Sunday, I got asked if I would put together our church Christmas activity. That is a huge project but hopefully I will have some great people on my committee (which I still have to ask around and see who would be willing to help out). I've already had one friend volunteer to help me out! After I get the committee together, then we will have to come with an idea. Luckily, I already have several ideas.

The other project I am working on is cleaning out and going through our ENTIRE house! That is a job!!! Right now we have two guest bedrooms but we need to reduce that down to one guest bedroom. I've already taken one load to goodwill and have sold lots of stuff on craigslist. A guy came over this morning at 6:20 am (I am so not a morning person) to buy our queen mattress. He didn't even test it out or anything. Of course, he has been sleeping on the floor and so anything would be better than that;) We will be moving our boys into that room some time in the future but we figured we might as well start working on it now and so everything will be completed when they are ready. Daniel gets the privilege to design and decorate their room since I will be in charge of the nursery. He is going to do an explorer theme and has lots of fun ideas.

I'm also organizing the main guest bedroom which is such a disaster right now. You can't even walk in there without stepping on something. I sure hope we don't have any guests for the next month! Daniel is going to build some more shelves in the closet since we have 10 foot ceilings. Might as well use all the space we can. I am also going through all my clothes, shoes and drawers in our room as well as going through the kitchen and pantry.

In the guest bedroom we are clearing out, I have my old furniture (dresser, headboard and end table) from when I was a little girl. So I am guessing it is around 25 years old now. They don't make furniture like this anymore and this set would be really expensive if it was bought today. I've decided that I really want to keep it and refinished it. It is definitely girly and so I won't be using it in the boy's room. It will go in the main guest bedroom and then I will pass it down to our daughter (if we are able to adopt a girl) and I hope to keep it in the family. The finish is not our style at all and so I have plans to either just paint it white or antique white with an ebony glaze and of course I will have to change out all the hardware. I've never done a big project like this before and so it should be interesting. Thankfully, I can take my time on this and work a little at a time.

I think this color and finish would look gorgeous on my furniture!

We are also in the process of working on our adoption profile and trying to get everything done with that. We started the whole process in September and I've pretty much finished everything and only have a few things left to do. As long as I get our profile published before Christmas and all the craziness of the holiday season, I will be happy. Anyone who knows me knows that if I wanted it all done in a week, I could do it. (which is probably why they put me in charge of the Christmas party).

People might think we are nuts for starting the adoption process again so soon but our boys will be almost 18 months by the time our profile goes active. I honestly would LOVE to have all our children really close in age (we already got a good start with Carter and Talon being only 3 weeks apart in age)! Of course, I understand that it could take years and that is why we are not waiting any longer to start the process.
