Welcome

We set up our adoption blog so you can get to know our family a little better. I started blogging back in 2007 and have kept up with it over the years. At the end of every year, we print off our blog for that year and give it to Daniel's mom for her Christmas present. She keeps all of her children's yearly journals in a notebook that we will get back one day to pass down to our kids. I try to keep it up to date as much as I can.

When we decided to start the adoption process, I decided to make an identical blog for birth mothers to read. Everything that I write about my family on our personal blog, I copy it over to my adoption blog. I understand that an adoption profile only gives limited information about us and we want you to have the opportunity to really get to know who we are and what we like to do as a family. Our adoption blog will show you who we were even before we adopted our boys. Feel free to read as much as you want or click on the links up above!

Corpus Christi

One of my best friends from high school got married last weekend and so I of course had to go to her wedding. She was getting married in Corpus Christi which was fun for us because Daniel lived in Portland for 8 years (right next to Corpus). I thought it would be fun for Daniel to show me where he lived. Daniel moved around a lot as a kid but he lived in Portland longer than anywhere else.

We decided to drive down to Houston on Thursday and spend the night with my parents in order to break up the long drive. We were tempted to drive straight to CC though because going through Houston added an extra hour but staying with my parents was one less night in a hotel. My parents decided to come with us because my friend really wanted them at the wedding and that also meant they got to spend more time with their grandsons. On Friday morning, we woke up and drove the 3 hours to Corpus.

When we arrived, Daniel and I stopped by his old stomping grounds while my parents went to check into their hotel room. Daniel drove me by his childhood house, school and where he got over half of the scars on his body. The picture below is only a few blocks away from his house and this is where he apparently got hurt (or in trouble) a lot.

It's changed a lot since he lived there and there is now a fence blocking off the hill down to the ocean and the golf course.

Our amazing view from our hotel balcony. We were on the 15th floor and so we had to take the elevator. Carter hasn't been in a lot of elevators where we had to go up so high and Carter got scared every single time. He would just latch onto who ever was holding him and let out a little cry.

After we check into our hotel, we decided to walk around the pier. It was beautiful outside but windy.

My parents with our boys.

Daniel and I standing in front of the replica of the Nina (I love how I look almost as tall as Daniel because I'm standing on the curb). I would not want to be on that small boat especially since they didn't even know if they would fall of the edge of the earth and they believed in sea monsters! That would have scared me to death!!!

The Selena Memorial.

On Saturday morning, we got up and went to Mustang Island. This was the boy's first time on a beach.

Talon was in heaven! This kid LOVES to be outside and in the water. His two favorite things combined into one.

Carter wasn't so sure but he still had fun exploring.

Talon getting messy in the sand. He was having a blast. We love this picture of him.

Swinging Carter. He was loving this and cracking up every time.

After we left the beach, we grabbed some lunch and did a little shopping. Then, we headed back to the hotel to get ready for the wedding. The boys would not sit still during the ceremony so Daniel and I had to leave. During dinner, we let the boys play in one of the empty rooms and we all took turns watching the boys.

Talon collecting all the petals. He loves doing this at home too. While eating, his new thing is to get all his food and put it on top of his sippy cup. He also loves to collect lots of toys in his bucket at home.

Carter into the wires. I don't know what it is about him and cords.

Family picture. This is probably the most decent one we've had in a long time. It is so hard to get both boys to look at the camera at the same time. Maybe one day we'll get them to look and smile at the camera but that is probably years down the road!

This is the last picture we took. Both boys love to just fall backwards when you hold them and they expect you to just catch them. We had to send out a warning to our family for next week when we go up to Daniel's parents house for Thanksgiving so anyone who decides to hold them will know that they will just throw themselves backwards without any warning.

The beautiful bride, Alana and me. We were connected at the hip during our senior year of high school. We did everything together.

On Sunday, we decided to visit the Aquarium.

They had an area where you could touch a stingray and Daniel recorded me touching one and screaming. It was actually quite funny. It flipped out when I touched it and it scared me to death.

I am not a fan of sharks although I love watching Shark Week on the Discovery channel every year.

I love dolphins! I can't wait to take our kids to Sea World. I even made Daniel take me to Sea World on our honeymoon while in San Diego.

We got to watch a dolphin show and it was the perfect length of 15 minutes. Perfect for little ones.

Talon enjoying the aquarium.

Not a very good picture, but I thought it was cute.

The boys loved looking at all the fish.

After we left the aquarium, we went and ate lunch and then drove the long trip back home. It took us just over 7 hours and the boys did really great for such a long drive. This was our first real vacation with our boys (staying at a hotel and not just visiting relatives) and we had so much fun. I can not wait to go on many more with our kids.
