Welcome

We set up our adoption blog so you can get to know our family a little better. I started blogging back in 2007 and have kept up with it over the years. At the end of every year, we print off our blog for that year and give it to Daniel's mom for her Christmas present. She keeps all of her children's yearly journals in a notebook that we will get back one day to pass down to our kids. I try to keep it up to date as much as I can.

When we decided to start the adoption process, I decided to make an identical blog for birth mothers to read. Everything that I write about my family on our personal blog, I copy it over to my adoption blog. I understand that an adoption profile only gives limited information about us and we want you to have the opportunity to really get to know who we are and what we like to do as a family. Our adoption blog will show you who we were even before we adopted our boys. Feel free to read as much as you want or click on the links up above!

Kauai - Part 1

Warning: This will be a long post because I took lots of pictures on our trip.

Wednesday:
Daniel and I went to Kauai a few weeks ago with my parents and we had a blast. It was so beautiful and we did so many fun activities. We had this trip planned before we knew we would be adopting our two boys and so we took them up to Oklahoma to stay with Daniel's parents. I cried our eyes out when we left them but we knew they would have so much fun with their grandparents and be very well taken care of. We arrived really late on Wednesday night and so we just went straight to our hotel. Here are some pics of the place we stayed.

The grounds of the hotel were just beautiful.

Our super nice kitchen.

Our bedroom

Our bathroom. Look at the size of that tub!!!

Thursday:
We decided to head up to Waimea Canyon. We decided to do this first on the list since it is often very foggy but we got very lucky and it was beautiful when we got there. It is very similar to the Grand Canyon but 10 times more beautiful!

It was a very winding and steep road and I ended up getting car sick driving back down from the canyon so we decided to go get something to eat. I had a friend tell me about this place called Puka Dog and so I decided to go try it out. Oh I am in love!!! So much so that I came home several sauces (relishes, mustard and their secret sauce) from them and ended up paying almost as much in shipping. A puka dog is a polish type sausage wrapped up in a bun size loaf of bread and then it has relish (my favorites are the mango and pineapple), garlic lemon Jalapeno sauce and lilikoi mustard.

Next we headed off to see the Spouting Horn.

These roosters were everywhere...and I mean EVERYWHERE. There was a hurricane in 1992 and they were all freed and they just keep on multiplying. They are really quite beautiful though.

Friday:
We decided to go visit some waterfalls.

Wailua Falls

Lacy 'Opaeka'a Falls

After visiting a few falls, we headed out for our helicopter tour. We decided to do the helicopter without any doors and we are so glad we did. It was so much fun and we didn't have to worry about the window glare. This was definitely one of my favorite activities that I have every done. The helicopter went all over the island and we got to see areas that you can only see from air. Here are some pictures that I took with my new camera!

Later that night, we attended a Lu'ah. The garden was just stunning and the food was pretty good.
