Welcome

We set up our adoption blog so you can get to know our family a little better. I started blogging back in 2007 and have kept up with it over the years. At the end of every year, we print off our blog for that year and give it to Daniel's mom for her Christmas present. She keeps all of her children's yearly journals in a notebook that we will get back one day to pass down to our kids. I try to keep it up to date as much as I can.

When we decided to start the adoption process, I decided to make an identical blog for birth mothers to read. Everything that I write about my family on our personal blog, I copy it over to my adoption blog. I understand that an adoption profile only gives limited information about us and we want you to have the opportunity to really get to know who we are and what we like to do as a family. Our adoption blog will show you who we were even before we adopted our boys. Feel free to read as much as you want or click on the links up above!

Rough Night

These past few days, both Carter and Talon have had a runny nose but nothing else. Then yesterday, I could tell that both of my boys did not feel well at all. Talon was running a fever and was really congested. They also were refusing to sleep during naps which isn't like them. Everything and anything would upset them and all they wanted was to cuddle with me (which I love). So last night, we put them down about 15 minutes before their bedtime since they were really tired. Then, around 11:45pm, Talon woke up crying and so Daniel went in and got him. He still had a high fever and was having a hard time breathing through his nose. So after some Tylenol and clearing out his nose, we laid him down with us in bed. We knew he didn't feel well and all he wanted was to be near us. So Talon ended up sleeping diagonal in our queen size bed. He had his feet on Daniel and he shared a pillow with me. I honestly don't remember how many time he woke up last night. Sometimes he would just sit up, or he would randomly say a word or even reach over and touch my face. Neither Daniel or I got much sleep and so at 5am we decided we better move him back to his crib. We didn't want Daniel's alarm clock or him getting ready for work to wake Talon up because he really needed his sleep. Talon went right to sleep in his crib and both boys slept until 10am.

Carter seems to be feeling a TON better but Talon still has a fever and a snotty nose. I can tell that he is feeling a little better now so hopefully tomorrow he will be where Carter is today.

Carter has one heck of an immune system. Back in May of last year when I was in Houston visiting my family, Talon came down with Rotavirus. He woke up throwing up and threw up another 8 times through out the night. I stayed up all night with him and just cuddled him. My parents house has all tile so it made cleaning up throw up really easy. He then gave it to everyone he came in contact with and by everyone I mean EVERYONE. I got it first, then both of my parents got it, then my childhood best friend, my brother, his roommate, my brother's girlfriend (that he was dating at the time), Daniel and the GE repair guy (yes the GE repair guy even got it!). So he ended up giving it to all of us except Carter NEVER got it. How?....I have no idea! He was eating off the same spoon, sharing and slobbering on the same toys, and they were always playing with each other. I found out that as long as Talon had diarrhea, he was contagious. Us adults all got over it in a day or two but Talon had it for two weeks. Talk about a LOT of blow out diapers. Luckily, since I was at my parents house, my mom was able to help with all the nasty diapers.
