Daniel and I went on an amazing date on Saturday night. One of Daniel's friends set up the date with his wife and one other couple and invited us along. We were able to get my friend, Deanna, to come over to watch the boys for us so they were in good hands. Deanna also brought along her 6 month old son, Mason, and younger sister.
We were suppose to meet at the Fort Worth train station at 2:15 and we barely made it. The funny thing was that we ended up being the first couple to arrive. When we all got there, Daniel's friend thought he forgot his wallet but it ended up being in his car. Then his wife said that she didn't bring any ID because she had no idea what we were doing since it was a big surprise. In order to ride the Amtrak, you have to show government ID. We also found out the the Amtrak was two hours behind schedule. So we decided to just ride the train to Dallas which was to leave in an hour. Since we had time to kill and we were all hungry, we headed over to a little cupcake shop. I got a lemon cream which was so good and Daniel got a coconut cream.
The train ride was fun and we just spent it talking. It was nice to be inside the train because it was freezing outside. Winter finally decided to arrive in north Texas and it was so cold outside. After we got off, we chased down a taxi and hopped on. Our next adventure was the Dallas Museum but we got there with only 20 minutes till closing. We did a super speed though the museum and only got in 15 minutes because they started kicking everyone out 5 minutes early. On our taxi ride!
After the museum, we headed over to Dakota's Steakhouse. Our reservations weren't till 6 but they got us right in. The restaurant was really unique. There was just little area for an elevator that you got on and it took you down to the restaurant.

Here is the story behind it....
Dakota's was established in 1984 and has been a downtown Dallas dining icon for over 25 years. Dakota's unique underground location has an interesting story behind it. It is located one level below street level on a section of real estate that was once occupied by the First Dallas Baptist church. There is a legally binding clause in the deed that prohibits any future owner from selling alcohol on former church grounds. Because "on the grounds" and "below ground" are two different terms, and because Lincoln Property Company wanted a restaurant to anchor their international headquarters, land was excavated and the restaurant was placed 18 feet below street grade.
Daniel and I at Dakota's Steakhouse. The food was REALLY good but expensive. We were all starving by the time we got to eat. So along with our steaks, we got two appetizers, salad or soup, three accompaniments (family size sides), and two desserts.
After dinner, we got a cab and headed over to The House of Blues. We had to wait awhile before the concert started so we just hung out in the gift shop. We had tickets to see Rebelution (reggae band) that I had never heard of. Some rapper guy opened up for them and his first song was good but after that all his songs started to sound alike. I can't remember his name but I can tell you that his next CD is coming out on March 6, 2012. He said it more times than I cared to hear it. Then another band from Hawaii played next and they were actually pretty good.
Daniel and I during the concert.

Unfortunately, we only got to hear one song from Rebelution because we had to leave. The one song we did hear was really good. The reason we had to leave was because....
we had a limo waiting for us outside!
We had a such a great time on the way home even though we were all so tired. It was so fun getting to hang out with other couples and getting to know them a little better.
This was probably one of the best dates I've ever been on. Thank you Daniel....I LOVE YOU!
